21st century policing

The Hartford Police Department continues to transition toward Community and Problem Oriented Policing — preventing crime by collaborating with others in our area to resolve the problems or conditions that create crime and the fear of crime, while building community, fostering inclusivity, and empowering others to increase the quality of life and public safety.

To enhance our Community and Problem Oriented Policing management philosophy, we have transitioned to a “Procedural Justice” approach and are seeking to advance progressively through implementation of the “Six Pillars of 21st Century Policing” guidelines.
