The Hartford Police Department offers Livescan (electronic) Fingerprinting Services for criminal history checks that may be required as a condition of employment, licensing, certification, or adoptions.

How does it work?

A Livescan Fingerprinting Technician will roll/scan applicant fingerprints and submit his or her prints electronically to the State of Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC). It takes approximately fifteen minutes for a certified fingerprint operator to type applicant information (e.g. name, birth date, gender, etc.) into the computer, scan applicant fingerprints, and electronically send the information to VCIC or to print the card. If you need to have ink rolled prints, please state that at the time of making your appointment. VCIC will send applicant criminal history background checks directly to the requesting agency or employer.

What will I need to bring with me?

  • You must bring a valid government-issued photo identification card.

  • You must provide documentation from the agency requesting the fingerprints or the VCIC fingerprint authorization form.

  • Cash or Check/Money Order made out to the TOWN OF HARTFORD in the amount of $35.00

WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS

We do not accept appointments via the telephone or e-mail.

What if I need ink prints?

When scheduling your appointment online (using the link below), comment in the “notes” field that you need to have ink prints completed. We only have the lite blue FBI Applicant ink print card on file.  If you or your employer need a different ink card, you will need to provide them yourself.

How much does it cost?

The fee for fingerprinting is $35 for each fingerprint card needed. Payment is accepted in the form of Cash or Check only. Checks must be made out to Town of Hartford.

How do I prepare to have my fingerprints taken?

Hands need to be clean and free of bandages and/or broken skin. If you have an injury that prevents you from extending your fingers or rotating your wrist, please wait until the injury has healed before having your fingerprints taken. Please do not apply any lotion or moisturizer before your appointment.

What if I am late?

Unfortunately, if you arrive 5+ minutes later than your scheduled appointment you will most likely have to request a new fingerprinting appointment so that other appointments can be kept on schedule.

What if I have additional questions?

If you need additional information, call (802) 295-9425, option 2.
