Does the Town of Hartford Have an animal Control Officer?

The Town of Hartford does not have an Animal Control Officer. If you need to report an animal control issue, please visit our Animal Control page.

When is the winter parking ban in effect?

The winter parking ban is effect between December 1 and May 1 (12:01AM – 7AM). All night parking is prohibited on all streets and highways in town.

Will my vehicle be towed during the winter parking ban?

Yes, it can be. While the Communications Center tries is best to contact the vehicle owner, sometimes were are unable to make contact. If the vehicle is impeding plowing then the highway department will request that the vehicle be towed. The vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense.
 

How Do I Pay My Ticket?

Visit the Judicial Bureau to pay fines. Remember to always follow the directions on the back of the white copy of your ticket. You do have the right to contest your ticket and request a hearing; the above link is only if you want to pay your fine.

What happens if my vehicle is parked on private property?

The property owner can have your vehicle towed at your expense.

How do I keep someone from trespassing on my property?

You can serve the person with a Trespass Notice [PDF].  This notice can be served a couple of ways:

  1. By hand: complete the form and hand a copy to the person trespassing. You will need to maintain a copy in case the person violates the notice (we will need proof that one was served).

  2. Certified Mail: return receipt requested. The return receipt serves as proof of service.

Trespass Notices expire one year from the date served.

Do you have concerns about the care; neglect; or physical, emotional, or sexual abuse of a child?

You can contact the Hartford Police Department and speak with an officer. You can also contact the Department of Children and Families (DCF) during business hours at (802) 295-8840 and during nights and weekends at (802) 649-5285.

Are You Concerned about the care that an elderly adult is receiving?

You can contact Adult Protective Services (APS) to report abuse of a disabled or elderly individual. APS also provides referrals for services to individuals over the age of 60, or those who have a physical or mental impairment and are victims of crime, abuse, neglect, or exploitation. APS can be reached at (800) 564-1612.
