Safe Exchange Zone

The Hartford Police Department offers a “Safe Exchange Zone” for residents to conduct face-to-face online sales, child custody exchanges, or meetings at which they might feel the need for recorded video monitoring. It is a safe way for individuals to conduct a transaction without providing strangers their home addresses or having to meet in other places where they may not feel as safe.

There are two parking spaces in the front visitor parking lot, marked with green paint and signage identifying them as a “Safe Exchange Zone.” The parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The safety of those involved in any transaction, or the assurance of the items being sold or exchanged as legitimate, are not implied or intended to be guaranteed.
