Outreach is a cornerstone of the police department’s Community and Problem Oriented Policing efforts. To that end, we are enthusiastic about launching this new website, which serves as an important and interactive communication tool. Through this platform, we aim to enhance dialog between our department and the individuals we serve, increase awareness of community safety initiatives, and further establish opportunities for collaboration and partnership to improve the safety and quality of life in our community.

The Hartford Police Department recognizes that the recruitment and selection of all personnel is one of its most important activities. Inasmuch, it is our goal to employ a knowledgeable, values-centered, service-focused workforce that mirrors the ethnic, racial, and gender composition of the regional labor force. Working together with the Town’s Human Resources Director, we monitor and develop strategies to attract a qualified, diverse applicant pool, while also fostering the conditions necessary to develop a competent, inclusive team of public safety professionals. We now offer sign-on bonuses for both certified and non-certified officers, as well as communications staff.
